Birmingham Thug's Dirty Face Covering Fails in Brazen Shop Robbery Attempt
Dirt-disguise robber jailed for Birmingham shop attempt

A clumsy criminal who smeared dirt across his face in a pathetic disguise attempt has been convicted after trying to rob a Birmingham convenience store.

Kieron Parkes, 31, thought covering his face in grime would conceal his identity during the brazen daytime robbery attempt at a local shop in Winson Green. However, his amateurish efforts proved futile as police quickly identified and apprehended him.

The Failed Robbery

The incident unfolded when Parkes entered the convenience store and immediately began threatening staff, demanding they hand over cash from the till. Witnesses described how the thug had deliberately covered his face in dirt, apparently believing this would serve as an effective disguise.

Despite his aggressive behaviour and demands, quick-thinking staff refused to comply with his orders. Their resilience forced the would-be robber to flee empty-handed, leaving behind nothing but clear CCTV evidence of his failed attempt.

Swift Justice

West Midlands Police launched an immediate investigation following the incident on October 5th last year. Despite Parkes' attempt to conceal his identity with the unusual facial covering, officers were able to identify him quickly through their enquiries.

The 31-year-old, of no fixed address, was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted robbery. He appeared at Birmingham Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Court Consequences

Parkes has now been sentenced to three years in prison for his botched criminal enterprise. The judge highlighted the distress such incidents cause to retail workers and the broader community.

This case serves as a stark reminder that no matter how criminals attempt to disguise themselves, West Midlands Police remain committed to identifying and bringing offenders to justice.
