In a recent proactive policing operation in Birmingham, officers seized drugs, a weapon, and a vehicle, according to West Midlands Police. The operation, part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime in the area, resulted in the confiscation of a quantity of Class A drugs, a bladed weapon, and a car believed to have been used in criminal activity.

Details of the Seizure

The seizure occurred during a targeted patrol in the Bordesley Green area on Tuesday evening. Officers stopped a vehicle after it was seen acting suspiciously. A search of the car revealed a stash of cocaine and heroin, along with a large knife. The driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody for questioning.

Impact on Community Safety

Local police have emphasized that such proactive operations are crucial for disrupting criminal networks and ensuring community safety. Sergeant Tom Harvey of the Birmingham East Neighbourhood Team stated, “This seizure demonstrates our commitment to taking dangerous drugs and weapons off our streets. We will continue to target those who cause harm in our communities.” The vehicle was also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, preventing its use in future crimes.
