Dudley High Street stabbing: Police appeal for witnesses

Police are urgently seeking witnesses after a man was stabbed during a violent incident on a busy West Midlands high street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Appeal for witnesses after early morning attack

West Midlands Police have launched a public appeal following a stabbing on Dudley High Street. The incident occurred at approximately 3.30 am on Sunday, 21 December, when emergency services were alerted to reports of violence.

A man in his 20s was found with wounds to his stomach and required immediate hospital treatment. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening and he has since been discharged from hospital and allowed to return home.

Detectives scour CCTV and urge public to come forward

Detectives are now actively reviewing CCTV footage obtained from local businesses in an effort to piece together the events that led to the attack. Officers are also conducting door-to-door enquiries and speaking with residents and shop owners along the High Street.

Police believe several people may have witnessed the violence unfold. They are particularly keen to obtain any mobile phone footage captured by members of the public, which could provide vital evidence to help identify those responsible.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed a rapid response was dispatched, including an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma team, arriving at the scene at 3:33 am. However, their spokesperson noted that no patient was found upon arrival, indicating the victim may have already been taken to hospital by other means.

How to provide information to the investigation

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police directly on 101, quoting reference number 20/482723/25. For those who wish to remain completely anonymous, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The attack has prompted renewed concerns about public safety in the town centre during late-night hours, especially amid the festive period. Local authorities are expected to maintain a visible police presence in the Dudley area in the coming days to reassure shoppers and residents.
