Police have launched an investigation after an elderly couple were attacked in a 'nasty robbery' in Sandwell. The victims, both in their 80s, were walking home from a shopping trip when they were approached by a man riding a bicycle on Upper Ashley Street in Blackheath at around 1pm on Tuesday, June 9.
Attack Details
The robber wrestled the elderly woman to the ground, stealing her purse and handbag. During the incident, her husband was pushed over, sustaining facial injuries.
Suspect Description
The attacker is described as white, tall, and slim, wearing a black hooded jacket, grey casual trousers, and dark-coloured trainers. He was riding a dark-coloured hybrid bike.
Police Appeal
Detective Sergeant Mark Dent, from the Neighbourhood Crime Team at Dudley, said: 'This was a really nasty robbery committed on a vulnerable elderly couple and I would appeal to anyone who may recognise the man in the images to please contact us. I appreciate that the offender's face cannot be seen, however friends or associates of this person may recognise him. We would appeal for them to please contact us.'
