Family Seeks Justice Six Months After Dad's Tragic Death Outside Birmingham Station
The family of a man who died after being struck by a car outside a Birmingham train station has expressed their ongoing grief and hope for justice, six months after the tragic incident.
Daniel Hanson, aged 34, was hit by a vehicle as he crossed Longbridge Lane, outside Longbridge railway station, at 11.15pm on Sunday, September 21, last year. He was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
Family's Heartfelt Statement
In a statement issued to BirminghamLive, his family said, "This month marks the six-month anniversary and as a family we hope for justice. We will forever remember Daniel and keep his memory alive. As a family, we will never come to terms with such a tragic event."
No charges have been filed yet, as investigations by West Midlands Police are still ongoing. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been released under investigation while inquiries proceed.
Remembering a 'One-in-a-Million Dad'
Daniel's funeral was held at the New Testament Church of God in Lozells last November, with a horse-drawn carriage carrying his coffin to and from the church. His sons, Mateus and Amari Daniels, previously described him as a "one-in-a-million dad" who was kind, caring, and had a heart of gold.
They added, "He would have helped anyone and will be dearly missed beyond words." The family continues to honor his memory, with a balloon release tribute held in his remembrance.
As the investigation into the fatal accident continues, the community and loved ones await further developments, hoping for closure and accountability in this heartbreaking case.
