Freddy Brazier, the 21-year-old son of late Big Brother star Jade Goody and broadcaster Jeff Brazier, was hospitalized last week after being severely mauled by his pocket bully, Pablo. The dog remains in police custody, with authorities giving Brazier until Tuesday, July 28, to secure a suitable new home or face the animal's destruction.
Ex-Partner Alleges Mistreatment
Holly Swinburn, Brazier's former girlfriend and mother of his four-month-old daughter, has publicly claimed that Pablo was mistreated prior to the attack. In an Instagram post, she wrote: 'This is Pablo. I had to give him to someone as I was struggling with a baby and a dog, he has been mistreated there and attacked them to protect himself.' She described Pablo as 'the nicest dog' and said the attack was 'totally out of character,' urging anyone with a suitable home to contact her to prevent the dog from being put down.
The Attack and Injuries
Freddy initially sought treatment at St Thomas' Hospital but left after a lengthy wait, attending Royal London Hospital the following day. Recalling the incident, he stated: 'He hooked on to my arm. The dog was hanging off me.' He discovered a 3cm hole in his arm and said he couldn't feel anything in his right arm until he saw blood. Doctors have left him unable to bend or move his arm up and down, describing the pain as 'extremely painful.' Despite the ordeal, he remains determined to have Pablo returned, though he acknowledges that outcome is unlikely.
Police Ultimatum
In the aftermath, police removed Pablo from Brazier's premises and issued a seven-day deadline, expiring on Tuesday, July 28, for Brazier to find suitable alternative accommodation for the dog. If no placement is found, the dog could be destroyed. Brazier told The Sun: 'I've never been scared of Pablo, but I was scared. I watched my dog get dragged into a police car. Pablo had to spend the night in a cell, bless him. That is s***.'
Previous Incident with Nan
Just days before the attack, neighbors had contacted police after hearing screams from Brazier's nan, Jackiey Budden, who was also set upon by Pablo. A source said: 'It's been a shocking few days... During the first incident, Jackiey was home alone, and she was mauled – on this occasion, one of her panicked neighbours raised the alarm.' London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police attended, but no criminal charges were brought.
Breed Exemption
Pocket bullies are identical to XL bullies but remain exempt from the breed ban that took effect in 2024 due to their shorter stature. A spokesperson for Brazier told The Mirror: 'Freddy is currently being treated – we will keep everyone updated on his recovery.' Sources described the situation as 'awful' for Brazier, who 'absolutely adores Pablo' and considers the dog a cherished family member.
