Spence was found guilty in November 2025 of a series of horrific child sex offences, including two counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and multiple counts of sexual assault and sexual activity with children. The victims, aged between 11 and 13, were from Stoke-on-Trent, with the offending occurring over a six-year period.
Despite being bailed after his conviction, Spence failed to attend his sentencing hearing on March 23, 2026. He was subsequently sentenced in absentia to 18 years in prison, plus a five-year extended licence period. Investigations reveal he fled the UK on December 9, 2025, flying to Morocco before moving on to Ghana.
