Major Oldbury Cannabis Farm Shut Down by Police, Two Arrested
Large cannabis factory shut down in Oldbury

Police have dismantled a significant cannabis factory in Oldbury, highlighting the ongoing dangers such illicit operations pose to local communities.

Warrant Uncovers Extensive Operation

On the morning of Tuesday, November 18, officers from West Midlands Police executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a property on Moat Road, Oldbury.

Inside, they discovered an extensive cannabis cultivation setup. The operation was not confined to a single space; cannabis plants and growing equipment were found spread across several rooms within the address.

Arrests and Seizure Following Raid

As a direct result of the bust, two men, both aged in their 30s, were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences.

A large quantity of cannabis plants was seized from the premises, effectively shutting down the illegal enterprise. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the details of the operation and the subsequent arrests.

Dangers to the Community

Police emphasised that cannabis farms like the one found in Oldbury represent a serious threat to public safety. They are often linked to organised crime and can lead to increased antisocial behaviour in the vicinity.

Furthermore, a primary concern is the severe fire risk these setups create. The haphazard electrical modifications used to power the growing equipment can easily lead to catastrophic fires, putting the lives of residents in surrounding properties at risk.

This warrant forms part of our continued efforts to target suspected drug dealing and the addresses linked to it, a police spokesperson stated. Operations like this one make a real difference to the community.

The force also highlighted that such successful interventions are frequently made possible by information received from the public. They encourage anyone who notices suspicious activity in their area to report it by calling 101.
