Police have issued a warning to residents after a quiet family village in Worcestershire was targeted by burglars using aggressive 'lock-breaking' methods over the New Year weekend.
Overnight Intrusion on Kenneth Vincent Close
West Mercia Police reported an incident at a property on Kenneth Vincent Close, a cul-de-sac off Evesham Road in Redditch, bordering Astwood Bank. The break-in occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 3 January 2026, at around 5am.
Offenders forced entry by snapping the locks at the rear of the home. It is believed the intruders were intent on stealing a car, but they ultimately left empty-handed after searching through drawers inside the property.
Broad Daylight Attempt on Dark Lane
In a separate but linked alert, the police force also revealed an attempted burglary at a home on Dark Lane in Astwood Bank. This incident took place in broad daylight at approximately 1:30 pm on Friday, 2 January 2026.
Thankfully, on this occasion, the would-be thieves were thwarted. A "high level of security" at the property prevented them from gaining access through the back doors.
