Machete Seized After Foot Chase on Soho Road

West Midlands Police seized a machete after a man was seen acting suspiciously on Birmingham's Soho Road. The incident occurred on the evening of June 15, when officers attempted to speak to a group of people in the shopping district.

Foot Chase Leads to Arrest

Around 11pm, a male suspect fled the scene, prompting a foot chase. The 32-year-old was arrested on Victoria Road on suspicion of possessing a bladed article. A machete was recovered nearby.

Operation Fearless

The suspect remains in custody for questioning. A West Midlands Police spokesperson stated: "We've seized a machete after Operation Fearless officers chased and arrested a man seen acting suspiciously on the Soho Road. Our officers tried to speak to a group of people on the street before the suspect fled. He was chased on foot and arrested on nearby Victoria Road, just before 11pm yesterday. A machete was recovered nearby. The 32-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of possession of a bladed article."

Operation Fearless officers have made dozens of arrests since arriving on the Soho Road and Handsworth Triangle last month. They have been working with partners including the BID and Trading Standards to address community concerns and improve the area.
