A 19-year-old man is due in court today after police seized a live and viable converted blank-firing pistol, a large sword, and several wraps of suspected Class A drugs during searches in Wolverhampton.
George Israel was arrested on Wednesday evening (September 16) in the Low Hill area. Officers subsequently searched a car and a house in the vicinity, uncovering the items. The gun was found in a bag and later examined.
Arrest and Charges
Israel has been charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition. He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Friday, September 18.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A man's due to appear in court today after we seized a live and viable gun alongside drugs and a sword in Wolverhampton."
Police Statement
The spokesperson added: "George Israel, aged 19, was arrested in the Low Hill area on Wednesday evening. Searches of a car and a house in the area led to the discovery of several wraps of suspected Class A drugs, and a large sword."
"Our officers also recovered a bag containing a gun, which after examination was found to be a live and viable converted blank-firing pistol. These items have all been seized and our enquiries are continuing."
