A man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy have been taken to hospital after a shooting in Birmingham. The incident occurred at around 8:30pm on Wednesday evening in the Handsworth area. Emergency services attended the scene on Rookery Road, where both victims were found with gunshot wounds.
They were rushed to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this stage. West Midlands Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Jim Colver said: “This was a shocking incident which has left two people injured. We are working to establish the full circumstances and would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact us.”
Local residents have expressed concern over the violence. One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “It’s frightening to think this happened so close to home. We hope the police can find those responsible quickly.”
