A man has been arrested after police discovered a stash of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, along with balloons in a vehicle parked near a primary school in Wednesbury. The arrest came after residents raised concerns about drug-related activity in the area.
Police Raid Near School
Officers acting on a tip-off searched a car in Addison Terrace, close to St John's C of E Primary School, on Sunday, May 31. Inside the vehicle, they found ten boxes of nitrous oxide and carrier bags filled with balloons.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class C drugs. He has since been released on bail while police continue their investigations.
Community Concerns Addressed
West Midlands Police emphasised that the arrest demonstrates their commitment to tackling crime in the region. A spokesperson said: “We’re taking tough action against high street crime in the West Midlands. Suspected drug dealers have been arrested, and thousands of pounds-worth of counterfeit tobacco and illegal vapes have been seized as we work with partners including Trading Standards, HMRC and Immigration.”
The force urged the public to report any suspicious activity, stating: “If there's evidence of criminal activity, or links to organised crime, then we will always look to secure charges and seek closure orders on premises. We would urge anyone with information to contact us and our partners, as the more evidence and intelligence we receive means we all have a better opportunity of combating any illegal activity.”
