Police have launched a major investigation after a man was discovered with serious injuries on a residential street in Birmingham.
Police and Paramedics Rush to Scene
West Midlands Police and ambulance crews were called to Tansley Road in the Kingstanding area shortly before 10pm on Sunday, 28 December. Upon arrival, they found a male victim who had sustained significant injuries.
The injured man was promptly taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities have confirmed his condition is serious but stable as of Monday.
Road Closure and Arrest Made
In response to the incident, a section of Tansley Road was immediately sealed off with police tape. The closure remained in force throughout Monday, with the roadway shut in both directions.
Officers were seen escorting local residents to and from their homes while the forensic examination of the scene was conducted. It is not yet known when the road will fully reopen to traffic.
As part of their urgent enquiries, detectives have arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder. He was also detained on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be questioned in due course.
Appeal for Witnesses
West Midlands Police have issued a public appeal for information to help piece together the events that led to the assault. In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "We're currently working to establish exactly what happened."
Anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who witnessed any activity on Tansley Road around the time of the incident is urged to come forward.
