Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder Following Fatal Street Incident in Birmingham

A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday, April 20, when the body of a 27-year-old man was discovered on Mott Street in the Hockley area of Birmingham. West Midlands Police have confirmed that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene after being found with serious injuries shortly after 12:30 am.

Police Investigation and Arrests

In response to the discovery, the Major Crime Unit launched a thorough investigation. Initial enquiries suggest that the man was hit by a vehicle, leading to his death. As part of the probe, a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Additionally, three other men, aged 25, 26, and 34, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and are also being held.

A car suspected of involvement in the incident has been recovered and is undergoing forensic examination to gather crucial evidence.

Appeal for Information from the Public

Detective Chief Inspector Phillip Poole, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences, stating, “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the man who has sadly lost his life.” He emphasized that the police are working diligently to understand the circumstances and urged anyone with information to come forward.
