A man has appeared in court after a hit-and-run incident in Wolverhampton left a woman with serious injuries, police have confirmed.
Details of the Goldthorn Hill collision
The incident occurred on Saturday, December 20, at approximately 8.40pm. According to West Midlands Police, a Seat Ibiza was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Goldthorn Hill at the junction with Fowler Street in the Black Country.
The force alleges the car then mounted the pavement, striking a female pedestrian.
Victim's condition and police investigation
The victim, a woman in her 50s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Four days after the collision, on December 24, she remained in hospital in a stable condition.
An investigation was launched, leading officers to arrest a 28-year-old man on Monday, December 22. He was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
Charges brought and court appearance
The suspect, named by police as Ryan Stanley, has since been charged with four offences. The charges are:
- Causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- Driving without a licence
- Driving without insurance
- Failing to stop after a road accident
Stanley was remanded in custody to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 24.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We arrested a 28-year-old man on Monday on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. Ryan Stanley has now been charged."
