Murder Suspect Appears in Court Over Wolverhampton Killing
A 20-year-old man has appeared in court accused of murdering a young father in Wolverhampton earlier this year.
Jashan Singh appeared via video link from HMP Brinsford at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday, November 26, where he entered a not guilty plea to a single charge of murder.
Court Proceedings and Trial Details
The defendant, of Cannock Road, Wolverhampton, spoke only to confirm his name and deny murdering 26-year-old Navpreet Singh on October 22, 2025.
Judge Michael Chambers KC informed the court that a trial date has not yet been fixed, but the case is expected to last up to 10 days. The judge remanded Jashan Singh in custody until further proceedings.
Tragic Incident and Family Tributes
According to West Midlands Police, the fatal incident occurred in a car park off Dudley Road, Wolverhampton. Navpreet Singh was allegedly attacked and was taken to hospital at approximately 1.30am.
Tragically, despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead about 40 minutes later.
In an emotional tribute released previously, Navpreet's family described him as a "loving husband, devoted father, brother and son" who was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his second child.
His wife was described as "utterly heartbroken and inconsolable at the loss of her beloved husband," while his two sisters were said to be "absolutely devastated" by the loss of their cherished brother.
The family remembered Navpreet as a kind, hardworking, and caring man who always put his loved ones first, adding that his "warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."
