A West Midlands man has been sentenced to four years in prison after police discovered a loaded parlour pistol concealed inside a shoe. The arrest occurred during a routine stop and search in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham.

Officers from West Midlands Police stopped the suspect, 24-year-old Mohammed Ahmed, on 15 March 2023. During the search, they found a small, single-shot parlour pistol hidden in the toe of a trainer. The weapon was loaded with a .22 calibre cartridge.
Ahmed was immediately arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm. Subsequent forensic analysis confirmed the pistol was in working order and capable of firing.

Appearing at Birmingham Crown Court on 12 June 2023, Ahmed pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited firearm. He was sentenced to four years in prison. Judge Simon Drew remarked on the seriousness of the offence, stating that the weapon was clearly intended for criminal purposes.
