Staffordshire Police have launched a manhunt after a woman was raped in an alleyway in a broad daylight attack in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. The victim was approached by an unknown man near Bucknall Old Road at around 1pm on Monday 11 May, then taken to an alleyway and raped.
Nearly five months after the assault, detectives have released an image of a man they believe may have information about the incident. The force is urging anyone who recognises him to come forward.
Police appeal for information
In a statement, a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in connection with an investigation into a report of a rape in Stoke-on-Trent."
The spokesperson added: "At around 1pm on Monday 11 May, a woman was approached by an unknown man near Bucknall Old Road in Hanley. She was taken to an alleyway and raped."
Detectives have been carrying out a number of enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation and are now able to release an image of a man they want to speak to, the force confirmed.
How to help the investigation
Anyone who recognises the man pictured or has any information that could help the investigation is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 or report it via the force's website, quoting incident 457 of 11 May.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident.
