Three masked men armed with what appeared to be machetes robbed a mobile phone shop in Birmingham on Friday, July 10, threatening a lone worker before making off with stock. The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 PM on Weoley Castle Road, and the suspects remain at large.
Armed robbery caught on CCTV
West Midlands Police confirmed they are investigating the armed robbery, which was captured on the shop's CCTV footage. The footage, now circulating on social media, shows three men entering the store, each carrying large weapons. One suspect brandishes a machete-like blade in the air and points it toward the lone staff member, who recoils. Accomplices are seen stuffing items from display shelves into bags.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We're investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, at around 3.20pm on Friday (10 July). Three people entered the premises and a number of items were taken."
No injuries reported
Despite the threatening nature of the robbery, the employee was physically unharmed. The gang fled the scene shortly after, and no arrests have been made. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
