Midland Abuser Sentenced for Violent Attacks on Ex-Girlfriend
A domestic abuser from the Midlands has been jailed after pleading guilty to a series of violent offences against his ex-partner, including strangulation and a home invasion assault.
Details of the Assaults
Kieran Hemming, aged 41, admitted to intentionally strangling his ex-girlfriend following an argument inside her home in June 2024. In a separate incident in September of the same year, he turned up at her residence, demanded to speak to her, forced his way inside, and shoved her to the floor before leaving.
Following these physical attacks, Hemming escalated his abuse by sending a series of threatening emails to the victim, adding to her fear and distress.
Police Investigation and Court Outcome
The victim bravely reported the abuse to Staffordshire Police, who launched a thorough investigation. A police spokesperson stated, "After hearing about the abuse, we worked tirelessly to support the survivor and to gather all of the evidence needed to secure charges against him."
Due to the compelling evidence and the victim's courage, Hemming pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation, assault by beating, and harassment – put in fear of violence. He was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Statement from Law Enforcement
Detective Constable Jessica Scott, from Staffordshire Police’s criminal investigations department, commented, "Hemming subjected the survivor to a torrent of physical and emotional abuse and has rightfully been brought to justice for his actions. We’re determined to support survivors of domestic abuse and to act robustly against those responsible."
