Police have issued an alert to West Midlands households about two thieves on a motorbike targeting high-value cars. The suspects have been arriving at properties in Wombourne late at night equipped with a relay scanner, attempting to steal luxury vehicles without keys.
Incidents in Wombourne
Thieves tried stealing a Mercedes before successfully driving off with a BMW within a six-day period in Wombourne, South Staffordshire, this month. The first incident saw two people arrive on a motorbike wearing helmets at a property on Common Road at around 11.30pm on Sunday, July 5.
The suspects appeared to use a scanner or relay device to try and steal a Mercedes GLC from a driveway. However, the duo were spooked and made off from the scene.
Second Incident and Stolen BMW
Staffordshire Police said it was then called to a similar incident on Sunday, July 12, where a car was reportedly stolen from a driveway on Penleigh Gardens at around 1.15am. Two suspects were seen on doorbell footage arriving on a motorbike before stealing the grey BMW X3 without keys. The individuals appear to have used a device to disrupt the vehicle tracker.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "We have carried out inquiries locally and are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the individuals pictured. We would like to speak to them in connection with the theft and attempted theft."
