Police in Worcestershire have opened an investigation after a collection of personal items, including mobility aids and clothing, were discovered covered in frost beside the River Avon.
Chilling Discovery on the Riverside
The mysterious assortment was found near Pershore Leisure Centre at approximately 8.45am on Sunday, January 4. Among the items left on the riverside were a black and silver four-wheeled cushioned trolley, a three-quarter length brown Marks & Spencer puffer jacket, and a walking stick.
Also discovered were a pink Charles Tyrwhitt scarf and a pair of HUGO sunglasses. The presence of frost on all the objects indicated they had been left in the freezing temperatures for at least a few hours before being found.
An Open Mind and Ongoing Enquiries
West Mercia Police officers are now conducting searches in the Pershore area and analysing local CCTV footage as part of their probe. Inspector Andrew Hodgetts stated that the force is keeping an open mind regarding how the items came to be there.
"We are keeping an open mind as to how these items came to be here, and would urge anyone who can identify them to please get in touch," Inspector Hodgetts said. "The items were covered in frost so we believe they have been here for at least a few hours."
Public Appeal for Information
The police have issued a direct appeal to the public for assistance in solving the puzzle. They are keen to hear from anyone who recognises the belongings or knows who they might belong to.
"If these items belong to you, or if you know who they belong to please contact 01905 331 225," Insp Hodgetts added. The appeal aims to establish the circumstances behind the abandoned items and ensure the welfare of their owner.
The investigation remains active as officers work to piece together the events that led to the belongings being discarded on the riverbank in such cold conditions.
