The assault took place on Monday, March 2, in the Wellsfield area of Woodside. According to police reports, the incident involved not only the pulling down of the student's trousers but also an attempted theft of her bag by a male suspect. Officers were called to the scene promptly, and an immediate search of the surrounding area was conducted to locate the perpetrator.
A 23-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in connection with the case. He has since been released on bail while police continue their detailed inquiries.
