Police Statement on Social Media Video
A WMP spokesperson said: "We’ve recovered weapons and made arrests in Sandwell this morning after responding to a social media video of a gun being brandished in the street. We were made aware of a TikTok post which showed two masked people with weapons, one who appeared to have a machete and another pointing a gun at someone. We today executed an early morning warrant at an address in Oldbury and recovered a BB gun – which is suspected to be from the video – along with a zombie knife and a number of swords. We’ve arrested a 15-year-old boy on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. We’ve also detained a 19-year-old man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place. They both remain in custody for questioning."
Inspector Comments on Community Impact
Inspector Mike Bradley, from the Sandwell priority crime team, added: "Guns cause harm and fear within our communities. To have a weapon pointed in your direction is one of the most distressing situations you can ever be placed in. If we become aware of any social media videos which show crime, or attempt to glorify weapons, we will always look to act and identify those involved."
