Police Investigation Continues After Five Months in Oldbury Rape Case

It has been five months since a young Sikh woman reported being allegedly raped while walking to work in Oldbury, with West Midlands Police confirming there are no new updates in the ongoing investigation.

Details of the Alleged Incident

The woman claimed she was dragged into bushes on parkland off Tame Road at approximately 8:30 AM on September 9 last year. According to reports, one of the two attackers, both described as white men, made a racist comment, leading police to treat the case as a racially aggravated rape.

Arrests and Bail Conditions

A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of rape on September 14 and bailed three days later, pending further enquiries. In a related development, following another alleged rape in Halesowen on October 16 last year, two individuals were arrested.

A woman in her 30s reported being attacked in Hurst Green Park around 7 PM on that date. The 49-year-old man and 65-year-old woman, both from Sandwell, who were arrested the next morning in connection with the Halesowen incident, were later also arrested in connection with the Oldbury rape. Both have since been bailed with conditions as investigations continue.

Police Appeals and Current Status

West Midlands Police launched a fresh appeal for information a month after the alleged Oldbury incident, stating officers were working diligently to bring those responsible to justice. When approached for an update on Friday morning, February 13, a spokesperson for the force said there were no new updates on these cases.

Authorities urge anyone with information that could assist the ongoing investigation to call 101, quoting log 798 of September 9 and 4711 of October 16. Alternatively, people can contact the force via the live chat facility on their website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
