West Midlands Police are continuing a major investigation into a horrific rape that took place in Oldbury nearly three months ago, with community leaders expressing growing frustration over the lack of charges.
Details of the Assault
The attack occurred on September 9, 2025, on parkland off Tame Road in Oldbury. A young woman in her 20s, who is of Sikh heritage, was walking to work when she was dragged into bushes and raped. She sustained injuries, primarily to her face, during the ordeal.
Despite the trauma, the victim was able to raise the alarm immediately by calling a family member. Police are treating the incident as racially aggravated after one of the attackers allegedly made a racist comment.
The Investigation and Suspects
Investigators are searching for two white men and have released new details about the clothing the attackers were wearing at the time. The inquiry has involved hundreds of police hours, with officers reviewing hundreds of hours of CCTV footage.
Dozens of pieces of evidence have been recovered for forensic analysis. Several people identified from the collected footage have been eliminated from the inquiry.
Arrests, Bail, and Community Concern
To date, three people have been arrested in connection with the investigation. This includes two individuals—a 49-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman—who were questioned in relation to a separate rape in Halesowen.
However, none of the three have been charged and all are currently out on police bail. After ten weeks, some community leaders fear the investigation has hit a dead end and have voiced concerns about potential police complacency.
They are urging authorities to speed up forensic results and revisit local premises for additional CCTV footage. In a bid to generate new leads, two rewards totalling £30,000 are being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Police continue to appeal to the public for witnesses and have asked anyone with information, including dash cam or doorbell footage, to submit it via a dedicated public portal.
