Quick-Thinking Officer Springs into Action
Without hesitation, Lewis applied his first aid training to dislodge the sweet, restoring Roxy's breathing. The family expressed immense relief and gratitude, describing him as a 'true local hero.'
Lewis, who patrols The Lunt and Bilston streets, is known for his friendly demeanor and community connections. The force noted he often stops to chat with locals, making him a well-loved figure.
Ordinary Shift Turns Life-Threatening
West Midlands Police spokesperson said: 'While out and about, he bumped into several old friends, turning the shift into a lovely trip down memory lane. But as anyone in policing will tell you, no two days are ever the same. In a heartbeat, the ordinary turned life-threatening when young Roxy, a toddler in her pushchair, began choking on a sweet.'
The spokesperson added: 'Her mum and nan were understandably panicked as the little girl struggled to breathe. Thankfully, Kenny was on hand and sprang into action without hesitation. Using his first aid skills, he quickly dislodged the sweet and helped Roxy breathe again. Mum and nan were left hugely relieved and incredibly grateful for Kenny’s actions after what could have been a tragedy.'
