West Midlands Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak to following an attempted knifepoint robbery at a cashpoint in Dudley town centre. The incident occurred at an ATM on Castle Street at around 8.55am on Wednesday, July 1.
Victim threatened with knife
A woman was using the cashpoint when she was approached and told that the would-be robber 'had a knife'. The suspect threatened the victim but a passer-by witnessed the event and intervened, causing the robber to flee empty-handed. No injuries were reported.
CCTV appeal launched
The woman in the CCTV image is described as white with brown hair tied in a bun. She was wearing a black Nike top and a black coat. Police believe she may have information that could assist their investigation.
Detectives are urging anyone who recognises the woman or has any details about the incident to come forward. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We want to speak to this woman after another woman was threatened at a cash point during an attempted robbery in Dudley. The victim was told there was a knife before a passer-by intervened in Castle Street at around 8.55am on 1 July.”
