Police Hunt for Rapist in Sandwell Valley Park Attack

Police are hunting for a potential rapist after a woman was found injured in Sandwell Valley Country Park. The woman was discovered in the Priory Woods area at around 10:15 am on Monday, June 29. Medics responded to 'concerns for the welfare of a woman' and she was taken to hospital for assessment. She has since been discharged.

Investigation Details

West Midlands Police believe the woman was raped. The force has appealed for anyone who was in the area between 8 am and 11 am to come forward. Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths of the Public Protection Unit said: 'In the last three weeks officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from around Sandwell Valley Country Park, examining forensic evidence, and speaking to anyone who may have vital information about what happened.'

Police Patrols and Appeal

Neighbourhood officers have been patrolling the area since the incident. Specialist officers revisited the park on the day of the appeal to speak to potential witnesses. Griffiths added: 'We know the park would have been busy on a Monday morning with people enjoying the sunshine. We need to hear from you if you saw anything that was suspicious.'
