Police in Staffordshire have launched a search for the driver of a black Porsche who fled the scene of a serious multi-vehicle collision on foot, taking his small dog with him.
Chaotic Scene Outside Village Pub
The incident occurred on Cheadle Road in Upper Tean, North Staffordshire, directly outside the Cross Keys pub. Emergency services were alerted to the collision at 9.55pm on Monday, December 22.
Initial reports from the scene suggest the crash was significant, with witnesses indicating that as many as 10 vehicles may have been caught up in the smash. The precise cause of the collision remains under investigation.
Driver Makes Off with Canine Companion
Following the impact, the motorist behind the wheel of the black Porsche was seen exiting his vehicle. Rather than remaining at the scene, he promptly left on foot, heading away from the area.
In a distinctive detail, the man was observed to be accompanied by a 'little black dog', which he took with him as he departed. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Staffordshire Police have issued a description of the individual they wish to trace. He is said to be a white male, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, and believed to be in his 30s. At the time of the incident, he was wearing dark clothing, including a hooded top, with either jeans or joggers.
Appeal for Witnesses After Collision
Officers are now conducting enquiries and have urged anyone with information to come forward. A police spokesperson confirmed that, fortunately, no injuries were reported following the crash, and recovery vehicles were arranged to clear the scene.
"We were called to Cheadle Road, Upper Tean, at 9.55pm on Monday following reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles," the spokesperson stated. "The driver of a black Porsche got out the car and left the scene on foot following the collision. The driver had a small black dog with him, who he took with him when he left."
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the event, or who has any information about the driver's identity or location, to make contact. This can be done by calling 101 and quoting incident number 803 of December 22.
