Stoke-on-Trent Paedophile Sentenced to Eight Years for Multiple Child Sex Crimes

A 40-year-old man from the West Midlands has been handed a significant prison sentence after admitting to a series of horrific child sex offences. Paul Adewusi, of Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, was jailed for eight years at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Details of the Offences and Court Proceedings

Adewusi pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of inciting sexual activity with a girl. The offences occurred during the 2010s, according to Staffordshire Police. In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on Adewusi, restricting his future conduct.

Police launched an investigation into Adewusi in April 2024 after he was reported to officers. The force stated that the strength of the evidence, combined with the survivor's exceptional bravery, led to Adewusi admitting the offences in court.

Police Praise Survivor's Courage and Commitment to Justice

Following the sentencing, Detective Constable James Esam, from the police's rape and serious sexual offences unit (RASSO), expressed satisfaction with the outcome. He emphasised the survivor's immense courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation.

“I’m pleased that we’ve been able to deliver this result for the survivor, who has shown incredible bravery throughout this process,” said DC Esam. “Regardless of when offences occurred, we are dedicated to supporting survivors and taking robust action against perpetrators of such heinous crimes.”

Support for Survivors of Sexual Offences

Staffordshire Police reiterated their commitment to assisting survivors of sexual crimes. They encourage anyone who has experienced such offences and feels ready to talk to contact them on 101 or use the Live Chat feature on the police website. The force aims to provide a supportive environment for survivors to come forward and seek justice.

This case underscores the importance of reporting sexual offences, no matter how much time has passed. The police's proactive approach and the survivor's bravery have ensured that a dangerous offender is now behind bars, protecting the community from further harm.
