Investigation Launched After Spitting Attack on Train
British Transport Police (BTP) have launched an investigation after a man was spat at during a journey on a train in the West Midlands. The incident, which left the victim distressed, occurred on a service between Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after the attack, which took place on Tuesday, 14 March. The victim, a man in his 30s, was approached by another passenger who allegedly spat at him before leaving the train at Wolverhampton station.
Victim Left Distressed
In a statement, a BTP spokesperson said: “The victim was left extremely distressed by the incident. Spitting is not only a disgusting act but also a serious assault, and we are determined to find the person responsible.”
The suspect is described as a white man, aged around 40, with short brown hair. He was wearing a dark blue jacket and blue jeans at the time of the attack.
Appeal for Witnesses
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2300019211. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
BTP have also reminded passengers that any form of assault, including spitting, is a criminal offence and will not be tolerated on the railway network.
