Police have issued a statement after a body was found in a popular Midlands park. Officers were called to the Forest Recreation Ground off Mansfield Road, Nottingham, at 6.13am on Tuesday, June 16, following reports of a man’s sudden death.
The male, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed. Part of the area was cordoned off on Tuesday morning while forensics officers investigated the scene.
The police said it did not believe the death was suspicious and explained it would prepare a file for the coroner as a result.
Detective Inspector Lisa Jones said: “Officers were called to the Forest Recreation Ground, Mansfield Road, Nottingham, at 6.13am on Tuesday (June, 16) following reports of man’s sudden death.
“Despite the best efforts of first responders, the man, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
It comes after police investigated reports that a young woman had been raped in Nottingham City Centre. Lace Market Square was cordoned off with investigations still ongoing after Nottinghamshire Police received the report in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 13). Adams Walk leading up to Fletcher Gate was also taped off by police, reports the Nottingham Post.
The force said the victim is being supported by local police. A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.46am on Saturday to the Adams Walk area of Nottingham city centre after reports that a young woman had been raped. She is being supported by officers and investigations are ongoing."
