A major police operation was launched in Worcestershire following a serious outbreak of violent disorder at a caravan park late on Sunday night.
Terrifying Scene Unfolds at Watery Lane Site
Emergency services were called to the caravan site on Watery Lane in Stourport at around 12pm on Sunday, December 28, after reports of a large-scale fight. Witnesses described a "terrifying" scene as the disturbance rapidly escalated, involving dozens of people. There were reports of weapons being seen and loud shouting heard across the site.
Multiple police units descended on the location to restore order. Upon arrival, officers discovered several people with injuries and significant damage to property, including multiple vehicles. Paramedics treated those with minor wounds at the scene. Fortunately, no life-threatening injuries have been reported.
Police Cordon and Arrests
To contain the situation and prevent more people from joining the fray, officers established a strict cordon around the park's entrance. Residents were advised to remain inside their caravans for their own safety while the area was secured.
Several arrests were made during the initial police response. Suspects were taken into custody for a range of offences, including affray and criminal damage. Forensic teams are expected to remain at the park to gather evidence from the most affected areas.
Investigation and Community Reassurance
A formal investigation into the cause of the violent disorder is now underway. Local police are reviewing CCTV and mobile phone footage to identify others who may have been involved. They have urged anyone with information to come forward.
To reassure the public, police have increased patrols in the surrounding neighbourhood, stating they believe the incident was an isolated dispute. The management of the caravan park is reported to be cooperating fully with authorities to help prevent any recurrence of the violence.
