Redditch Boy Seriously Injured in Scooter Crash

A boy riding a scooter sustained serious injuries after a collision with a van in Redditch this morning. West Midlands Ambulance Service was dispatched to Church Road, Webheath, at 10:47 am on Monday, July 20.

Bystanders Provided Initial Care

Upon arrival, ambulance crews found that bystanders had been caring for the injured boy before paramedics took over. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman stated: “Crews arrived to find bystanders caring for a boy who had reportedly been riding a scooter when a van collided with him.”

Advanced Trauma Care at Scene

The boy received advanced trauma care at the scene from a team that included an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma doctor. He was then transported by land ambulance under blue lights and sirens to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further emergency treatment.
