Rise in Flasher Incidents Across West Midlands

West Midlands Police are investigating a surge in indecent exposure incidents, with 501 crimes recorded in 2025. This marks a 10.3% increase from the previous year, according to data from a Freedom of Information request.

Rise in Reports

There were 501 reports of indecent acts involving deliberate exposure of genitals last year, up by 47 from 2024. Overall, 1,843 reports were filed between 2022 and 2025, with the majority of victims being female.

Recent Incidents

Last month, footage emerged of a naked man with a backpack walking through Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield, just five days after a separate sighting of a naked runner in the same park. In another case, a mother reported that her children witnessed a man "completely exposing himself" outside a Birmingham chip shop on College Road in Kingstanding. Additionally, a man reportedly exposed himself on the number 74 bus near Hockley Circus.

Police Response

West Midlands Police urge victims to report such incidents, acknowledging that it takes courage but assuring that all reports are taken seriously. Officers are actively hunting suspects and appeal to the public for any information that could help identify the perpetrators.
