Six individuals are in custody after West Midlands Police discovered a suspected Class A drugs production lab in Smethwick, Black Country. Officers initially raided a shop on Smethwick High Street on Wednesday morning, July 29, recovering Class A drugs and arresting four people on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Further Investigations Lead to Second Property
Following the shop raid, the Sandwell Proactive Crime Team extended their inquiries, leading them to a property off St Paul’s Road, Smethwick. Inside, they found a range of equipment used in drug production across various rooms. Two additional suspects were detained at this location.
West Midlands Police stated: "We've discovered a suspected Class A drugs production lab and made a series of arrests in Smethwick today. We initially acted on information and worked with partners to swoop on a shop in High Street this morning. We recovered suspected Class A drugs and arrested four people on suspicion of possession with intent to supply."
Suspects in Custody
The six arrested include five men and one woman, aged between 20 and 49. All remain in custody for questioning as investigations continue.
The force emphasized the broader impact of drug activity: "Drugs ruin lives and also fuel further crime. We're taking regular action across Sandwell to shut down illegal drug lines. We'll always seek to identify those involved and pursue prosecution action."
