Sixth Teenager Charged Over Fatal Stabbing Outside Smethwick Mosque

A sixth teenager has been charged in connection with the death of Zeshan Afzal, who was fatally stabbed outside a mosque in Smethwick two weeks ago. The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, has been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Mr Afzal, according to West Midlands Police.

Court Appearance Scheduled

The accused teenager is due to appear at Wolverhampton Youth Court tomorrow, March 7, for his first hearing. This development follows the initial incident on February 20, when Mr Afzal was found with fatal stab wounds near a mosque on Oldbury Road in Smethwick.

Previous Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Five other teenagers had already been charged in connection with Mr Afzal's death. The stabbing occurred after a disorder that took place shortly before 9pm on the same night. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy who was arrested has been bailed pending further enquiries, as the investigation remains active.
