West Midlands Police are searching for a gunman who fired shots at a house in Northfield, Birmingham, on the evening of September 3. Officers were called to Middle Field Road at around 9.45pm following reports of a firearm being discharged at a property. A window was damaged, but no injuries were reported.

The shooting occurred at around 9.45pm on Thursday, September 3, at an address on Middle Field Road. A police spokesperson confirmed that officers attended the scene and found damage to a window but thankfully no one was hurt.

Investigations are ongoing to establish who is responsible for the incident. The force has deployed extra officers to the area, and additional neighbourhood patrols are being carried out to offer reassurance to residents.

Dispersal order in place for 48 hours

A dispersal order has been put in place in parts of Northfield from 12.30pm on September 4 and will remain in effect for the next 48 hours. This gives officers the power to move people or groups away from the designated area, which is highlighted on a map provided by the force.

The order allows police to disperse groups and prevent anti-social behaviour in the vicinity while the investigation continues.

Police appeal for information

Insp Matthew Shaw, from the local policing team, acknowledged the incident may have been concerning for residents. He said: "We know this will have been a concerning incident for people in the area, so we are taking proportionate steps to reassure the community as investigations continue."

He added: "You may see more officers on patrol in the area, and we’re ready to listen to any concerns you may have. Anyone who has information about this incident, or any footage, should contact us as soon as possible."

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We’re using extra powers in part of Birmingham after a firearm was discharged at a house yesterday evening. We were called to reports of a shot being fired at a property in Middle Field Road, Northfield, at around 9.45pm. Officers attended and, thankfully, found that no-one was injured but damage had been caused to a window."
