Victim speaks out 16 months after brutal attack
A man who had part of his ear bitten off in a brutal attack outside Solihull Popworld is still waiting for justice more than a year later. The assault occurred in the early hours of March 1, 2025, on Poplar Road, and no arrests have been made as of July 2026.
The victim, speaking to BirminghamLive, said he is still "living with the consequences" of the attack. He described how an argument with his girlfriend led to her running outside the club, where she was approached by two men. When he tried to bring her back inside, a fight broke out.
Attack details and aftermath
According to the victim, one of the men put him in a headlock and attempted to choke him before biting off the top part of his ear. "I've got to walk around with half an ear missing for the rest of my life," he said. The incident caused him to miss work and suffer a breakdown, for which he was offered multiple counselors.
West Midlands Police released CCTV images of two men they wanted to identify shortly after the attack, urging anyone with information or footage to come forward. However, the victim believes the police could have done more. "The officers that dealt with me after the incident were perfect but the last I heard they had 'shelved' the case," he said.
Police response and ongoing investigation
West Midlands Police confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage. A force spokesperson said: "We'd ask anyone with information about the assault, and who was involved, to contact us via 101 or Live Chat on our website and quote crime reference number 20/160310/25."
The victim expressed frustration that justice has not been served, saying he wished detectives had "done more" at the time. The case remains open, but the victim continues to live with the physical and emotional scars of the attack.
