This is the shocking moment a speeding car ploughed into front gardens in Birmingham, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The vehicle careered along Burney Lane in Washwood Heath, where the driver lost control opposite the Shahi Masala restaurant.

The incident occurred around 10.30am on Monday, March 16, with the car smashing into brick walls, metal gates, a wheelie bin, and cars parked on driveways. Miraculously, no one was injured during the collision, but local residents looked on in horror as two men emerged from the vehicle and casually left the scene.

"I was shocked," he said. "They've smashed the gate and we're now waiting from the insurance."

His elderly neighbour Sabir Hussain was sleeping in the downstairs lounge when he heard an almighty bang which sent him into a panic. The 82-year-old said: "I heard a loud bang and thought the roof had fallen down. I went outside and all these bricks had fallen down."

"I called my wife. We were very scared. There's damaged to my car, wall and gate. We're struggling to clear it."

Community reaction and police investigation

Another householder, Mohammed Hafeez, 40, expressed his disbelief at the incident: "It's crazy. I'm surprised nobody lost their life - it could've happened easily."

West Midlands Police are investigating the incident and appealing to anyone with information to contact them. The force issued a statement confirming: "We are investigating after a car hit a wall at properties in Burney Lane, Washwood Heath, at just before 10.30am on Monday."
