A 23-year-old man from Tamworth has been arrested on suspicion of theft after two diners refused to pay a £150 restaurant bill, alleging they found hairs in their food.
The incident occurred at a restaurant on Station Road in Burton-on-Trent in February. According to Staffordshire Police, two individuals entered the premises, ordered steaks and cocktails worth approximately £150, and then declined to settle the bill, citing hairs in the food as the reason.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Officers attended the scene on February 16 and launched an investigation. On Wednesday, July 22, a 23-year-old man from Tamworth was arrested on suspicion of theft. He has since been released on conditional police bail while inquiries continue.
Sergeant Lee Parden, of the east Staffordshire local policing team, said: “We are determined to crackdown on individuals involved in theft from local businesses and will do all we can to stop people from committing this type of crime, which has a significant impact on local people.”
