An 18-year-old motorcyclist who died in a collision in Whitstable has been formally identified as Harley Seal. The fatal incident occurred on Chestfield Road, outside the Chestfield Barn pub, at around 8.15pm on July 24. Seal collided with a white Mercedes A180 and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Murder investigation launched
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of Harley Seal. On the day of the crash, an 18-year-old man voluntarily attended Canterbury police station at 9.50pm and was arrested in connection with the incident. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
The following day, a second suspect, Connor Todd, 19, of Portlight Place, Seasalter, also attended Canterbury police station and was arrested. Todd has since been charged with murder and appeared before Margate Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 27. He is due to attend Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, July 29, reports Kent Live.
Police appeal for witnesses
A Kent Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries to establish the circumstances are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of either vehicle before or after the collision to come forward."
The appeal comes as investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to the collision.
