West Midlands Police are investigating after a 15-year-old boy was shot in a park near Newtown Shopping Centre in Birmingham. The incident occurred just after 10:30pm on Thursday, 23 July 2026, in a park off Porchester Street, close to the A34 Newtown Row.
Victim Hospitalised with Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found the injured teenager. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening or life-changing. Police have not disclosed further details about his condition.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We're investigating after a teenager was discovered with a gun shot wound on Newtown Row, Newtown at just after 10.30pm yesterday. It's understood he was shot at the nearby park by Porchester Street. The 15-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or changing. We're carrying out a range of enquiries - including a thorough review of CCTV - to establish exactly what happened and who was involved. We understand how concerning this will be and we've increased patrols in the area."
