Third Suspect Arrested in Worcester Garage Fire Murder Case
Detectives have made a third arrest in connection with a murder investigation after a man's body was discovered inside a garage fire in Worcester. The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing probe into the tragic incident that occurred on Surman Street.
Details of the Arrest and Investigation
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Monday, March 16, and remains in police custody as of today. This follows the initial response by officers and the fire service to the blaze on Thursday, February 26, where the victim was found deceased inside the garage.
In a statement issued today, a West Mercia Police spokesperson confirmed: "A third man has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in Worcester. Emergency services attended an address on Surman Street on February 26 following the report of a garage on fire. Sadly, a man was found dead inside."
Previous Charges and Court Appearances
Prior to this latest arrest, two other individuals had already been charged in relation to the case. Thomas Bowen, aged 34 and of no fixed address, was charged with murder and remanded to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 10.
Additionally, David Jones, also 34 and of no fixed address in Worcester city centre, faced multiple charges including arson being reckless as to whether life endangered, assault with intent to rob, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, March 2.

The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading to the fire and the man's death. A 34-year-old man was arrested on the day of the incident on suspicion of murder but has since been released under investigation, highlighting the complex nature of the case.
