Armed police descended on a bustling Birmingham street after gunshots were fired on Saturday evening, leading to three arrests for suspected drug offences.

Chaos on a Busy Junction

The incident occurred at the junction of Stratford Road and Durham Road in Sparkhill at approximately 7.25pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025. The area was heavily congested with traffic at the time. Eyewitness footage captured a significant police response, with multiple marked and unmarked vehicles, their blue lights flashing, rushing to the scene.

Durham Road was swiftly sealed off with police tape as officers secured the area. During their immediate enquiries, a number of men attempted to flee but were detained by police.

Injuries, Damage, and Arrests

One man sustained minor injuries believed to be caused by flying shrapnel from the gunfire. A vehicle in the vicinity was also damaged in the incident.

Officers searching the area discovered a quantity of cannabis and cash. This led to the arrest of three local men, aged 23, 25, and 27, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. All three remain in police custody for questioning.

Police Appeal for Information

A spokesman for West Midlands Police confirmed an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances. “We’re continuing to work to establish exactly what happened, and who was involved,” the force stated.
