Floral tributes have been left in memory of a much-loved uncle who died in a crash that left a woman and four children injured.
The driver of a Honda Civic, named locally as 'Rich', died after the car crashed into a takeaway on High Street in Princes End, Tipton, on Tuesday, June 2.
Five others in the same car—the four children and the woman—were rushed to hospital.
Tributes at the Scene
Tributes from the victim's family and friends were left at the scene. A message on one bouquet read: "RIP uncle. Gonna miss you lots. Fly high, big man."
Another read: "RIP Rich. I can't believe it ended like this. Should have never been the way."
A third said Rich would "forever" be in their "hearts".
Police Investigation
West Midlands Police launched an investigation into the crash following the tragedy.
A spokesperson previously said: "We're investigating after a man has sadly died following a collision in Tipton. Just before 10.20pm, we were called to High Street in Princes End after a vehicle hit a property. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver of the Honda Civic, a 48-year-old man, died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this tragic time.
"There were five other occupants in the vehicle, including a woman and four children, who have all been taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."
Ambulance Service Statement
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Crews arrived to find a car which had been involved in a collision with a building. The driver, a man, was in a critical condition. He received advanced life support on scene but was sadly confirmed deceased by ambulance staff a short time later.
"A woman passenger sustained serious injuries and ambulance crews administered trauma care before she was conveyed to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. Two boys from the car sustained minor injuries and were conveyed in the same ambulance to hospital.
"Two girls from the car suffered potentially serious injuries and received trauma care from the team of medics before both were taken on blue lights and sirens to Birmingham Children's Hospital for further care.
"A man, believed to be a passing cyclist, sustained minor injuries and was discharged on scene and left in the care of relatives."
