A black Nissan Navarra pick-up truck was stolen from a public car park in Anchorage Road, Sutton Coldfield, on Saturday, July 11, in a theft that occurred just yards from the town's police station. The vehicle has since been recovered, and West Midlands Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
Theft Details
The owner, who had been attending an event at Sutton Town Hall on Upper Clifton Road, parked the vehicle in the car park for most of the day. The theft is believed to have occurred between 8.56am and 8.30pm. Shortly after the theft, the vehicle's license plates were observed being changed.
According to the owner, plates starting with 'N' or 'L' were seen being swapped around 6pm. A car matching the description was also seen passing a nursery and turning right onto Upper Clifton Road at 5.48pm.
Proximity to Police Station
The Anchorage Road car park is situated just a few yards from Sutton Coldfield Police Station, which recently relocated its public entrance from the former Lichfield Road frontage to the rear of the police site, occupying former houses. The close proximity of the theft to the police station has raised concerns among local residents.
