Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a father on Christmas Day have made a significant breakthrough, arresting two men in connection with the alleged murder.
Christmas Day Tragedy in Wolverhampton
The investigation was launched after emergency services were called to Burcot Avenue in Wolverhampton in the early hours of 25 December 2025. They discovered 30-year-old Trey Johnson with serious injuries.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, Mr Johnson, a father-of-two, could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was reported to police at just after 3.30am.
Police Investigation and Arrests
West Midlands Police have now confirmed a major update in the case. Two men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested on 7 January 2026 on suspicion of murder.
Both individuals remain in police custody where they are being questioned by detectives. Specialist officers are supporting Mr Johnson's family and keeping them informed of the investigation's progress.
In a statement, the force said: "Officers investigating the murder of Trey Johnson on Christmas Day have arrested two men. The men were arrested on January 7 and are in custody at this time and will be questioned on suspicion of murder."
Appeal for Witnesses and Family Tribute
Investigators continue to urge anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from people who were in the vicinity of Burcot Avenue in the early hours of Christmas morning.

Following his death, Mr Johnson's heartbroken family paid a moving tribute to him, describing a devoted family man. In a statement, they said he was a loving sibling, father, and partner with an infectious smile and energy.
"Trey is a person that would do anything for anyone," the family stated. "He was a loving father of two. He was a good man, a good son, that did everything and more for his family. We as a family are very proud of Trey and he will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him."
